Murr Forestry, PLLC is an independently owned forestry consulting business based in Stanly County, NC and provides forestry assistance to landowners in central and western North Carolina. Our mission is to help property owners gain the most from their investment in timber lands by implementing the owner’s individual goals and objectives into plans and services that will help them augment those purposes. Murr Forestry offers services in an ethical and professional manner to help improve the value of our client’s forest land whether the goal is to produce timber income, provide family recreational opportunities, improve wildlife habitat to increase wildlife populations, or any combination of these aspirations.
J. R. Murr, Managing Principal, is a Registered Forester and Consulting Forester in North Carolina (RF#: 1143), an American Tree Farm System® Qualified Inspector (ID#: 18400), and a licensed Real Estate Broker in North Carolina (License #: 315888). J. R. also holds certifications as a N.C. Environmental Educator and QDMA Deer Steward I.
J. R. has over 30 years of experience in natural resource management on public and private lands in the mountains and piedmont of North Carolina. J. R. began his career as a Ranger with the N. C. Forest Service. He also served 8 years as a Park Ranger and a Park Superintendent with N. C. State Parks. J. R. returned to and retired from the N. C. Forest Service completing his last year of public service with the State as a Forest Law Enforcement Officer. J. R. initially began his forestry consulting business as a part-time venture (J R’s Forestry Services) in 2007 and is currently active as a full-time consulting forester with Murr Forestry, PLLC. Over the years he has assisted many landowners with the management of their timber lands by way of preparing forest management plans and timber appraisals, administering timber sales, providing reforestation services, recommending forest protection measures, advising on wildlife habitat improvement practices and recreation management.
